Not sure how to input Audio in when using VGA input

oops original answer is spot on. i don't know why but i never noticed the 'audio in for pc' 3.5mm jack next to the vga cable and i was plugging it into the headphone jack...duh...

i think i'll start playing all my mpeg4 through the laptop just to stop the hassle of codec/resolution problems playing off the usb.

can someone confirm for 100% if the 3.5mm audio jack can act as audio in from a laptop while in pc input mode? or is it just audio out to be used with headphones?

basically as the bravia's mpeg 4 resolution/container support is so poor, i'm thinking of just playing all from my laptop. now i know i can use the vga cable for picture but how do i pass audio from the laptop to the tv's speakers?

You know there is only one feature I go on about on here

IMPROVED SUPPORT FOR MPEG 4 files. So possibly mkv containers but of course I mean the bit rates/frame rates/resolution/codecs currently not played back giving the dreaded "playback not available".

This is a feature that should only be software based so 'easily' applicable to a firmware upgrade.

I FEEL A FORUM POLL COMING ON SOON OF MOST REQESTED FEATURES AND THIS WOULD BE MY VOTE.

When I turn my TV on it says in the top left corner 720, how do I change this to 1080p?

i do not think this is anything you can "change". This is the TV telling you your current input resolution/source. So whatever input you are watching is being signalled at 720. If you switch to a HD source you should see that it will display 1080p/i depending on the input.

When I view freeview std it displays 576 but when watching freeview HD its sourced at 1080i.

Does BBC iplayer content vary across their delivery services?

Can anyone confirm whether the content that is available on BBC iplayer is the same or if it varies throughout their delivery services? i.e. is the content that is available from BBC iplayer online the same as that I would get from my Sony Bravia TV?

Maybe I did not search enough the other day but I looked for Wall-E to watch on the Sony TV and it was not available but the next day and even today its still available on BBC iplayer from BBC website?

Any one care to shed some light.

USB for KDL-32EX403

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but any standard USB stick should be readable by your EX403. I have the 40" 403 and I've used several different usb manufacturers from no name to brand names and all have been read.

Just copy the movie(as long as its in a compatible format) and go to movies icon on main menu then scroll down to usb device.

Be warned file formats/code formats are a big problem and from reading other posts you'll find file playback hit or miss.

Problem watching films via USB on 40EX503

I too am suffering with this annoying problem with movies played from a USB stick.

To be honest its the reason why I went for the Sony in the end(KDL-EX403). I completly appreciate that avi, mkv mp4 etc are just containers and its the actual encoder/codec used that is whats important but surely Sony can increase the compatability via firmeware updates if they wanted to. Am not certain if its just an encoder/codec issue; I think certain resolutions might trip it as well.

From every 5 movies I try, 3 will not be able to be played back and I get the "playback not available" message. I don't know if Sony read messages in these forums but if anyone is able to contact them, please let them know how usefull increased mpeg4 compatability would be to us BRAVIA users.

I havn't tried re-encoding movies yet as it would take to long, until I can afford a blade server than can re-encode a movie for me in <10mins.
