how do i change from spanish to english format

High everyone. I have a vaio desktop VGC-V2S running XP. I know it is a bit old but recently I had to do a complete recovery and everything went fine until I tried to setup the TV, which had been working fine before. When I run the Vaio zone setup it asks to make sure the TV aerial is connected. I was running a freeview box through it so connected everything up but it runs and says "No channels were found" Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Can I use external speakers with Sony Vaio Tap 20?

Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. The battery life on my PCG-71311M has completely gone so i am looing to purchase a new battery. Ive looked on most websites on the internet but cant find an exact match for the battery i need. Ive also been in pc world and they have told me that they dont make batterys for my laptop anymore but i disagree with this because my laptop is only 1 year old. I would be gratefull if anyone could help me out with this issue

I have a Vaio VPCL13S1E all in one pc

my fans at times make alot of noise even when not under load.

I have ran real temp and speed fan and the CPU and GPU temps are ok even under load but i am geting temps of 62 for MCH and 76 for ICH.

i have stripped down the pc and cleaned all the dust out and renewed the thermal paste on all the heatsinks.

Would anyone have any ideas on what can be causing these high tems and how to fix it?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am trying to install windows xp after removing windows 8 from my computer after creating new partition via fdisk with windows 98se startup disk but during installation I get in trouble when get a blue screen error message saying

"YOUR COMPUTER'S STARTUP PROGRAM CANNOT GAIN ACCESS TO THE DISK CONTAINING THE PARTITION FOR FREE SPACE YOU CHOOSE. SETUP CANNOT INSTALL WINDOWS XP ON THIS HARD DISK."

Please help me to resolve the issue and I will be really thankful to you.

I have followed the tips on not allowing the computer to turnoff the WiFi adaptor, power settings, BUT the connection to my router just randomly drops! as I have other computers connected that don't drop connection I know it MUST be something on the new laptop / windows 8!

This is very annoying especially whenI'm inthe middle of a Skype call to a business meeting!

Does anyone have the real solution to this please?

Just want to say how annoying a search option is when it does not reconise its own model name and numbers.....

Sony Vaio Tap 20 and WiDi

This is more of a statement really... I was curious as to whether the Tap 20 would support WiDi as it has the correct chipset but there seems to be no details on the website or reviews...

However I bought a Belkin ScreenCast in the vague hope it would work... the Sony provided WiDi drivers didn't work at all, but after I upgraded the screencast box's firmware and downloaded the latest Intel drivers I was pleased to see that it worked!

Its a great addition to unit as I can now browse on my lap and everyone can see without crowding around - a very nice feature which you (Sony) should shout about! :

PS Still need a case in the UK though :

Greetings, I inadvertently installed Windows 8 Pro on my Windows 7 all-in-one pc back in October before I knew that a VAIO Windows 8 Upgrade was available. On the whole my pc seems to be working fine but some applications no longer work at all, for example the Web button, and I'm wondering whether I should attempt an uninstall of Windows 8 Pro and then install the VIAO W8 Upgrade before reinstalling W8 Pro. Any thoughts gratefully received.

I installed 3 recommended Windows updates yesterday in my VPCL13S1E and since then it has been going more and more wrong - started with a few error messages and a bluescreen (which had been happening intermittently) then not recognising the operating system, now completely unresponsive. I've been trying to implement the advice on system recovery/repair to restore it to the pre-update time but I can't get the process started - either no response or screenfreeze in response to F10.

Any clues or suggestions would be welcome - in the meantime do be aware.

I can't believe my bad luck this week this is the 2nd sony device to break following my hdd recorder failure....really hoping someone can help.

I attempted to switch the computer on and the power light switches on but the screen remains completely black and the fan makes a really loud noise. I've switched the computer off and then rebooted pressing the F2 button repeatedly but nothing happens. The sony rep I spoke to said that it is likely to be a hardware problem. What type of hardware problem could it be....has anyone come across this problem before? Additionally I noticed that none of the lights on the computer keyboard light up either is this an indication of anything?

Really frustrated as the computer is only 4 years old and I probably use it twice a week.

Based on what I've said has anyone got any ideas/suggestions and potential costs as I don't want to find myself hit with a bill so large that it would probably have been best to buy a new computer.

Incidentally I'm seeing that the all in one models are quite unreliable. Anyone got any suggestions for a cheap upgrade but similar spec?

Problem after Win8 update

I just restarted my PC (Sony Vaio VPCL13S1E - Win 8 Pro installed) and upon starting up noticed it said configuring updates. After this the screen went black (done this numerous times on Win8) I then restart a couple of times and get to start up screen, only to find my wireless keyboard and mouse now don't work despite numerous attempts to reconnect. The keyboard however does work in BIOS. I have tried using a USB mouse which doesn't work either and the touch screen has stopped working. This is really pi**ing me off as I have only recently had to reinstall the OS due to my bluray drive all of a sudden not being recognised (would not come back no matter what - wasn't even in device manager). I know windows 8 is like marmite to a lot of people but i actually dont mind the UI its just so damn buggy!! Any ideas what I can do despite reinstalling the OS again as I don't want to lose any files which I haven't backed up?

I purchased a sony vaio almost about a month ago....the model...is SVE14133CAB..and havent had any trouble till yesterday.It was working just fine...while charging and i put it to sleep...when i opened it the laptop battery showed.."plugged in,not charging"...i tried uninstalling the battery and reinstalling it....but doesnt work...but when i remove the battery and insert it without switching the laptop on...it charges...and it can't be kept on and charged at the same time...what do i do..?...is time to change the battery already..inspite of battery status being excellent..??

VGX-XL100 graphics card upgrade?

I have an old Sony Vaio that I like but would like to upgrade the graphics card. The computer currently has an nvidia GeForce 6600 with 128MB on memory. I am not using the tuner any more - just using as a spare computer at home. A card with 1GB would be just great for what I need (to play some games). I bought one at PCWorld but it did not work - too modern they told me!

Any one out there be able to recommend a graphics card that would work with this computer and perhaps know wher to source it?

Hello

I am trying to convert my old VHS tapes to DVD via my PC tower (Win 7).

To do this I need to connect my old VCR (SLV-SE230G) to my PC. However, I don't seem to be able to locate the drivers for this hardware and when I connect the device, Windows does not look for the appropriate drivers, either.

Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

I went into Vaio Care on my vpcl22z1e all in one computer and it instructed me to update, resulting in the above message! I have looked for an answer in the forum but as yet cannot find anything relating to it!

Bad Start Up

I`ve just recently developed a problem on start up...

When loading my computer as I normally do it gets as far as "Starting Windows" then all every thing goe`s into large mode..

Stating "LOGON UI" and stating "BAD IMAGE" so then this prevents me getting any further, I have to go to F8 to do a System Restore Point so I can get back to my desktop..

Can anyone tell me why this could be happening and is there a easy way of fixing this problem?

I haven`t done many "UPDATES" on my computer.....could this be the cause? I`ve just recently added all "UPDATES" that needed installing after encountering these start up problems...

Any Help Would Be So So Greatful

Have installed BD Add on together with Play Memories . When burning a BD with scenes from my 3D camera, i choose the disc to be in 3D, but when played on my 3D BD , TV or PS3, the disc only shows in 2D. Help!!
