Connecting Sony Bravia to sky+ box

Just bought a new Sony Bravia and hooked it up to my standard sky+ box using the scart cable into the av1 socket on the tv. Automatic input detector knows a satellite box is connected (according to the abbreviation and icon) but no picture is visible when av1 input is selected.. Any ideas anyone?

iPlayer not working on my KDL EX503

When I try to launch iPlayer on my EX503 using the internet video button the screen goes black and I get a spinning wheel in the top corner as if it's trying to load but it just sticks like that.

Any idea what I can do to fix this.

I can actually get iPlayer on the TV via my Bluray player which is also a connected device. Any ideas why?

Connect an External Hard Drive to Bravia-40HX750 via USB

I recently bought a Seagate External Portable Hard Drive 500GB, I downloaded some MKV movies and I Connected it to my Sony Bravia-40HX750. The Unit was recognized as an external Drive, but I couldn't play the MKV files.

Searching the Sony menu, a message displayed that in order to read the External Seagate drive, it should be re-formatted(I suppose so) and the Data should be lost.

I accepted it, the disk was re-formatted and now I can programme to write programs from Sony Tv to the External Disk and I also can play them. So it works fine with the Sony TV.

The problem is that the so re-formatted Seagate is not recognized from my Desktop PC, using Win7 or from my Play Station 3. Is there any idea on how can I play the unit on both environments, or how can I format it to play in my Desktop ??

I have a Sony KDL55HX853 Bravia TV and a Sony Xperia Z smart phone. I want to pair YouTube on the phone with the TV is it possible with this model of TV? If so how is it done? I have tried signing in to YouTube on the TV bbut there isn't an obvious means of pairing a device.

Tidying up of Cables and Wires

Hi all

Just curious on how you all sort out your wires and cables at the back of your equipment. I keep trying and am never happy with it. Its almost becoming an OCD !! Argh. I get so much of the way, and then all the cables seem to criss-cross all over the place. As well as different cable lengths etc.

Inserting a usb wlan gives the message "The connection settings on the usb device may not be correct" but it works in my laptop.

I am trying to get a TP-Link TL-WN823N wireless adaptor to work in a Bravia KDL-40EX503 TV.

The usb WLAN works in my laptop and connects to the network ok, but as soon as it is plugged into the tv, I get the message in the title of this question. It won't let me alter any network settings as it thinks there is no device there.

Am I missing something obvious or is it anything like this device being uncompatibe?

Tech question about Sony Bravia KDL40R473ABU

I'm thinking about accepting a Sony Bravia KDL40R473ABU TV set after having to return a faulty LG 37LS570T (bought a week ago). The shop has no more LG's in stock but they highly recommend the KDL40R473ABU.

Although not a match for the Sony (picture wise) one really, really, really nice feature of the LG was that I could set up different colour balances for each input. So the aerial input (say) could have different colour settings from the HDMI inputs. I found this extremely useful for colour-matching my different input devices. The salesman reckoned that the Bravia probably has a similar feature but he couldn't seem to demo it to me. Anyone know if such a feature is available on the KDL40R473ABU?

Question about screen display

A display keeps coming up on my Bravia screen giving my model type followed by a series of what is available on my tv eg. pc input,usb play,bass booster,usb play,freeview.

Could my set be in Shop mode do you think?

Anyone knows the SLA for answering complaints? I logged a complaint last Thursday, 28.06.2012 and yet no answer.

I'm extremely frustated and lost any confidence in the Sony brand quality or customer services considering my TV (still under warranty) is in the repair shop for investigation a 3rd time in the last two months ... having 2 LCD panels replaced already and it's still broken

I never thought it could be so bad ... but now I feel robbed by Sony after spending over £1000 on this TV which sits more in the repairing shop.

I would appreciate some advice from those among you who might have had a similar experience to mine?

In 2011 I paid £649 for a Bravia 32" with blue Ray in built player,plus 5 yr Guarantee/warranty.

Although having very little use,5 weeks ago the Blue Ray DVD player stopped working.Sony were contacted and removed TV for repair replacing it with 2nd hand Panasonic lacking DVD player.(not to happy over that)

WE were told at the time that Sony repair turnover was a max of 14days...after three weeks no-one had contacted us so we started chasing,only to discover that Sony had informed the branch that our Blue Ray Dvd player is unrepairable as parts are not available,equally Sony have stopped Production of the Bravia with in built Blue Ray shortly after our purchase, due,they say,to being unable to give customer choice over Blue Ray DVd in built into Bravia TV.

After four weeks we were eventually contacted by the manager of our local branch to discuss the situation who made it very plain(over the phone) it was impossible to replace what we had originally purchased,plus we were in a totally unique situation within Sony as it had never happened before, where the item could not be repaired or replaced,.and that at present no other customers were effected?

We understand the impossible cannot be granted if the model is no longer available and fully accept that...however what we do not accept,especially with our 5yr Guarantee is Sonys answer to the problem.

They want us to accept our original TV back with a free standing Blue Ray DVD player!

My objection to this is, that it is not the package that I initially purchased,plus what good is my original set if the DVD is broken.yes I can view DVDs through a free standing box,but when the time comes to move the set on, who will be interested,as psychologically from a buyers point of view if one part is broken whats to say the other is not effected?

As SONY admit, it is a unique situation: I would like them as a good will gesture if nothing else,to give us a credit note against what we origianlly spent, allowing us to start afresh in store....after all we did not break the unit,equally it is not our fault or that of our local branch if Sony are unable to repair or offer a replacement within the terms of the guarante/warranty.

I would be grateful for other Forum members views and comments,plus how they would react in the same situation. Thankyou.

Play back and record to dvd??

Hello,

I have a Sony Bravia and I usually record programs to a hard drive via usb.

However, there are programs I would like to save for the future and I'd like to save them onto a dvd. I do have a dvd player. My question is... can I play back the program and record it on to a dvd via the dvr (since the hard drive only works with this tv)?

No events (programmes) are listed in the Freeview or Freesat Guides on my KDL40V5810 TV.

I can receive and view all available channels on Freeview and Freesat in perfect picture and sound quality.

I've re-scanned both Freeview and Freesat but I'm still not able to see any listings in the Guides.

Any solutions from anyone.

Recently I bought this model.Today I try to watch one DIVX movie with subtitle.The sub file was SRT.
I found that,the movie and subtitles must have the same names.So far so good! But encodin of subtitles is incorrect,If Subtitles are with ANS,UTF-8 or Unicode big endian TV show me the picture which is attached.If enciding is "Unicode" everything is allright but the subtitles are frozen in one place throughout the film.
How to solve the problem? Thanks in advance...

My KDL-40V3000 Has dark screen and image retention

I am at a loss as our beloved sony tv has developed a couple of issues

firstly the screen image is very dark i noticed this one evening when watching a dvd, i have tried to adjust the levels using a calibration tool on a pixar bluray but i am not able to adjust the brightness or contrastlevels sufficient enough to even see the test images let alone perfect them.

The other issue is the image retention that was first noticable when after viewing the EPG the straight lines were visible on the screen when watching tv channel etc this would dissapear after a short while of mooving images but has also got to the point that when any fixed image is shown on the screen it takes a while for it to be errased which is very distracting.

as the tv is just out of the extended 5 year garantee i am looking for assistance that will not cost the earth.

My favourite TV app with Bravia was Moshcam, but after the latest firmware update it has gone. Is there a good reason for this?

And no the Youtube option is not a replacement for the app as the app grouped the content by genre which is not available via Youtube.

This is the sort of thing that makes me furious with Sony.

According to Moshcam they do not know why Sony have removed it!

We have had a Sony Bravia TV for a few months now. Every time I record a program using the timer recording facility, I watch the program back only to find the last few minutes of the program are missing, it just ends, and usually on an important conclusion. This is really frustrating!

Has anyone else had this problem, and more importantly does anyone know how to resolve this problem please???

It's been around 10 months I never turn on my Bravia KLV-S26A10 anymore. That time the TV screen has no problem when I just put the TV in the room and never touch itu ever since.

Today, I want to try to do a dual monitor function for my PC, so I hook the Bravia also besides the newer monitor to the graphic card on PC.

And I noticed the Bravia screen look likes in the attachment picture No.1 (01_cracked.jpg). First I thought it's just a dirt, so I just continue to turn the TV on ... and the screen looks like the picture no.2 (02_bleed.jpg). This picture I took was after put the "Picture" & "Backlight" setting all the way down to Minimum.

It's not a dirt, it's like a deep thin horizontal lines - just like we usually find in a wooden table. When I touch those area, I think I feel it is hard, not soft like the other area which doesn't have those "scratch".

Anyone please can enlighten me what happened to the screen ? I hope it's not a broken screen which I need to replace.

Any kind of respond will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I'm the proud owner of a new Bravia 32EX65 TV, and have purchased a new USB drive (32Gb) - never used before.

I wanted to use the USB drive to record TV programs, and so registered the device as required. No problem, it shows 99% free space.

The issue is whenever I select a program to record, be it "live" or via the "timer", I get a message saying the HDD is almost full.

Clearly it isn't, as it shows 99% free. The message is annoying, although the recording still seems to work without problems.

Here is the exact message when I set up a timer recording:-

"Timer event might be aborted as HDD is almost full"

I am guessing this is a standard message, but there is a bug somewhere triggering it when it shouldn't.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? As I said, the actual functionality of the recording works, it is just the message that appears everytime.

I have attached three jpgs, one "TitlePageMessage.jpg" showing the amount of free space on the USB (24.7GB/24.9GB), the second showing the message when selecting live recording (RecordMessage.jpg), and the third when Pause is used (PauseMessage.jpg). The crazy thing about the pause message is that it says TV pause is not available because the HDD is full, and then it goes ahead and does the pause!

Your thoughts?

Excuse our ignorance - but can our Sony Bravia KDL37EX503U be used to actually surf the net? Or is it somehow restricted to certain film and/or news sites?

I've just viewed a Sony video that was supposed to explain all of this and it seemed ok on the teccie aspects like different ways to connect to the net but it kind of skipped over what you can and cant access?

Also does the remote take the place of the keyboard and mouse?

Ive just gotten a Sony 40kdlcvx520 and Ive been trying to set up the USB recording feature,

Ive only got my old 60gb sata drive from my hdd upgraded ps3,its in an new housing and ive reformated as fat32

the tv recogonises the hard drive for playback but doesnt when I try to register it for recording

can any one help!!!
