I have few suggestions for new updates. Some of them could already been mentioned. So here they are:

    1. Use of the round OK, confirm or whatever it's called, button to open the channel list

    2. Moving internet widgets closer to the center when you clik the home button, or even using some button on the remote to open widgets. For example it would be great if you could open facebook faster.

    3. New internet widgets would be great. For example, I would love to see something like weather forecast, rss news feeds, gmail etc.

    4. Separating favourites and history in different lists

    5. Last channel watched should be easier to open. Having to click home, and then navigate to favourites is too complicated

    6. Recording to network drive. Using network storage or using your laptop's HDD would be great.

    7. Not sure if it's only me, but I wasn't able to make some webpage a homepage, so every time I start the internet browser I get the sony's default page... Users should be able to configure their own homepage.

    8. USB, or even bluetooth keyboard (the one for google tv looks great)

That's all for now. I hope you will implement some of this.

    Hi,

    Just adding my wishlist:

    1. Timeshift: it is very frustrating not to be able to go forward/backwards... while on the other hand USB recording is featured. Timseshift feature is available on most competitors, including low-end brands. Difficult to understand.

    2. NTFS-formatted USB playback/record... this has been commented a lot in other threads.

    3. Mkv playback... if technically possible.

    4. Page up/down when dealing with lists in the menu (for instance when listing DLNA videos...). Next/Previous channel buttons could be used for this purpose - in the same way as in Windows media center.

    5. Please provide more internet TV channels!

Generally speaking, I think that most of the complains from this community would be solved if Sony would be ready to document and publish its platform specs and provide APIs. This would allow third-party developpers to provide most-wanted features that Sony is not willing to provide out-of-the-box, for reasons of cost/product strategy/commercial agreements.

    My 2 cents.

Hi, i buy few days ago Bravia KDL-32EX720 and i was VERY disappointed when i saw that this tv doesnt support mkv videos via USB, i've tried to stream with Mezzmo but can't feel the 3d effect. As i understand there's one way to watch 3d movies - to buy blu-ray player + blu-ray recorder to write films on disc. This is very disappointing - REALLY. Many people have this problem and i hope soon we will get an firmware update to be possible to play mkv from usb hdd. To be honest if i can go back i will change with samsung tv (my friend have one and play mkv's from usb) but i can't, its too late. Im sure that lot of customers will choose another brand for this problem. Please do something! THANKS!

It would be nice if the message about offering to switch to an HD feed on freeview didn't block pretty much the whole picture. It looks like on Samsung TV's it just puts a small question bar up towards the bottom of the screen, allowing you to see if you want to switch. Currently it's hard to decide whether to switch to an HD feed as you can't see what's actually on the channel due to the large box that covers up most of the screen....

Another enhancement that I'd like to see is the option to not put up the message boxes on the screen when powering on the Bravia that warn you (every time) about not to unplug the external USB hard drive when in operation. I think after powering on the TV a couple of times a day for the last 6 months the message about not unplugging the drive has finally sunk in.

    Cheers

P.S. Any chance of adding Netflix sometime soon to BIV please?

    Neflix support.

Shouldn't be that difficult since US versions support Netflix.

    Thanks.

Seems strange that Sony BIV was probably the only missing platform not announced on the day Netflix launched in the UK, especially when our friends over the pond already have these capabilites on their Bravias.

Vtuner support or some other music streaming capabilites such as Napster would also make this a fantastic platform.

I know people are complaining about the lack of 4OD and ITV Player but it seems like the broadcasters aren't that bothered in adding support. Maybe these people haven't actually noticed that there is nothing worth watching on these catch up services.

Has anyone else noticed that the DLNA renderer on the latest firmware (PKG3.807EUA-0104) goes to sleep sometimes and then needs a kick by either disabling/re-enabling it as it can't be seen on the network. Come to think of it sometimes the wireless doesn't connect either on poweron then requiring the internal wireless to be disabled and then re-enabled. These two issues don't seem to be related as sometimes the wireless starts ok, but I can't see the renderer.

Well, that was all from me.

Sold the Bravia and got a passive 3D LED at the same price paid for the CX520.

    Cheers!

It would be great if the 2011 series TV's would work with a Humax PVR serving mpeg2-ts using twonky (vers 4.4.18).

Would be more than happy to provide sample files to someone at Sony who might be able to resolve this issue. The issue is documented on the discussion forum at https://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/message/678540 but has no real suitable resolution posted.

I know from looking at plenty of other forums that there are quite a number of other people that would be very happy if this could be made to work.

    Regards

The lack of .mkv support is unacceptable. Time to move on and change your policy. Most customers is waiting nothing less than a firmware update on near future to resolve this issue. Due to this i am forced to connect pc on my NX720 or bying stand alone media player. I would really like to start using DLNA to play .mkv files on my TV. Product is good but i am forced to propose my friends to buy a Samsung for example. Competition is hard out there and i am sure Sony knows it better than anyone...

One disappointmnet with the new Bravia KDL-32EX723 TV I have recently purchased is the absence of a PP (i.e. previous program) function on the hand controllor. This is a useful facility given the length of adverts in the UK, and allows you to keep an eye on another channel from time to time.

Yes I fully agree with you, I and just about every buyer of Sony TV lately say the same. I have had to get hold of an older style remote to get this facility. The TV responds to the previous channel instruction, only the new remotes do not have this button.

Sony should make their  TV's more user friendly. I have been asking for the HOME button functions to come up with the most used items first. Currently the list is the opposite, with for example Analogue/Digital coming up first when there is a  dedicated button for this !!!

A monkey could do a better design job.

Hi, loving my new 32EX723, but wish the record feature allowed me to set a repeat record, so it captures repeat shows with the same name on the same channel.

    Cheers

When you select "One-touch recording" on my Bravia KDL-55EX725, recording starts immediately, but it stops at the time that the broadcaster has indicated that the programme is expected to finish, instead of continuing until I press "Stop".

On many of the channels that I watch, programmes very often run late, so that the last few minutes of the programme are cut off. This is such a problem that I can hardly believe that there is not an option somewhere to disable the automatic stop, and prevent recording stopping prematurely! But if there isn't such an option, PLEASE introduce it in a firmware upgrade.

    Thanks,

    Bruce

    Sony Bravia KDL-32CX523.

Playing movies on an 8GB USB stick is very hit and miss.

When it is formatted as FAT32 it will not play any video file above 2GB.

When it is formatted as exFAT it will play .MP4 above 2GB, but not .AVI above 2GB.

When I cut the .AVI file in VirtualDub into 2 parts (both below 2GB), then they will play.

I have tested this on many video files.

This is a different issue from the non-playable .AVI files which have mp3 audio and non-zero wBitsPerSample (which would be great if you can also fix).

    • Audio only posibility (Screen off, good for music and radio stations)
    • Better Codecs / Container support eg. mkv
    • NTFS disks support
    • 4OD
    • ITV player
    • Netflix
