A Next-Generation OB van for Pro TV
12th September 2026, Weybridge UK: In December 2025, Romanian Broadcaster Pro TV, part CME Media and Entertainment network, took another step towards enhancing its live production capabilities, by introducing a full suite of Sony products to install in their next OB Van. The solution brings together Sony’s latest live production technologies to create a powerful, integrated workflow designed to support the demands of modern broadcast production.
The new OB van, due to be on the road later in 2026, will feature up to 20 UHD native HDC Series cameras and 20 HDCU-3500 Camera Control Units, providing a robust foundation for high-quality live production. Supporting the camera workflow is the HDRC-4000 HDR Production Converter Unit, fully integrated into the control network to enable seamless HDR workflows and consistent picture quality throughout the production chain.
Two CNA-2 Network Adapter Units will further enhance the system, providing integration with third-party equipment and systems and enabling greater flexibility in how the OB van is operated and managed. The MLS-X1 Live Production switcher will also play a key role, offering a flexible and scalable architecture capable of handling a high volume of resources as production requirements evolve.
For picture monitoring and mastering, the OB van will be equipped with Sony PVM-X and LMD Series professional monitors, supporting accurate source monitoring and high-quality mastering across the production workflow.
Pro TV is a long-standing Sony customer, selecting its technology once again for the next OB Van. Its camera technology was selected based on three key considerations: picture quality, reliability and workflow efficiency. The integration of CNA-2 monitoring tools, combined with the ability to connect seamlessly with third-party systems, provides the flexibility required to create a highly efficient and future-ready production environment.
“Following the recent delivery of OB7 from the coachbuilder, PRO TV will carry out the system integration in-house. It is an ambitious project that requires significant technical know-how and attention to detail. Sony’s technology fits naturally into this project, reflecting our long-standing experience with the reliability and performance of its equipment,” comments Bogdan Andreescu, Technical Director at PRO TV.
“By bringing this complete suite of Sony equipment together within a purpose-built mobile production environment, Pro TV will be able to realise the full potential of the technology and its integrated workflows. We are delighted to be chosen once again by the broadcaster and look forward to seeing the technology bring many inspiring broadcast moments to life,” comments Norbert Paquet, Head of Live Production, Sony Europe.
The impact of the new equipment is expected to be significantly greater within the dedicated OB van than through improvised or temporary installations, with the integrated system designed from the outset to maximise operational efficiency, flexibility and production quality.
