Sony and CenturyLink Join Forces to Conduct SMPTE 2110 IP Live Transmission across Las Vegas

Las Vegas, 7th April 2019: Sony and CenturyLink Inc. (NYSE: CTL) are collaborating at NAB Show 2019 to complete a remote production between two different locations in Las Vegas. With the HyperX eSports Arena in the Luxor hotel as the remote operations base, Sony and CenturyLink will produce a live feed remotely from the eSports Arena’s gaming tournaments. Using a remote production workflow built around Sony’s portfolio of IP-based products, coupled with Sony’s new Live Element Orchestrator system orchestration solution, resources will be coordinated intelligently and shared between the two environments.

The build-up kit, CBK-FS7BK, enables extended shoulder mount usage, making the camcorders ideal for further applications from news production, interviews, documentaries and reality television shooting. Combined with the LA-EB1, a new lens mount adapter, both E-mount and B4 lens assets can be used on either an FS7 or FS7 II, allowing users to capture images with deep and shallow Depth of Field (DoF) – all with a single camera.

Sony is also launching two new SDI-IP converter boards, the NXLK-IP50Y and NXLK-IP51Y, offering support for SMPTE ST 2110 standards with HDR compatibility and the latter, also supporting 12G-SDI. Las Vegas, 7th April 2019: At NAB 2019, Sony is introducing the latest addition to its HDC family of 4K live camera systems: the HDC-5500, a new multi-format live camera capable of direct 4K signal output in 12G-SDI. It has the world’s first 2/3-inch 4K global shutter with three CMOS sensors that ensure superb image quality in HD, 4K and HDR live production. Furthermore, optional software will be available, offering high frame rates up to 4K 2x and HD 8x.*
