NRK orders 68 PXW-FS7M2K cameras and 20 PXW-FS5K cameras to standardise its workflow, and become more streamlined

Norwegian broadcaster NRK undergoes a technology shift and renews its old camera pool with 88 new Sony cameras

Basingstoke, 15 September 2017 – Norwegian broadcaster NRK is undergoing a technology shift, and as such, has announced a public tender in order to replace its range of varying, aging, cameras. Sony Professional is proud to announce it has won the public tender, and is supplying NRK with 68 brand new Sony PXW-FS7M2K cameras and 20 PXW-FS5K cameras. In addition to standardising its solution on a common camera platform and shooting format, NRK also wishes to gain extended expertise and optimise its workflows.

Cinevideo selects Sony Professional Solutions for its first 4K HDR OB Van

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – 15 September 2017: Cinevideo, an Italian production company specialising in content creation and television productions, has selected Sony Professional Solutions as a strategic partner for the development of its first 4K HDR OB Van, capable of handling the most demanding audio-visual productions. The OB Van is present at IBC in the demonstration area dedicated to mobile productions. The OB Van, equipped with Sony's XVS-8000 video mixer and Sony HDRC-4000 conversion unit, will allow Cinevideo to offer major broadcasters - such as RAI, Mediaset and Sky - simulcast single production workflow of major Italian and international events for HDR, SDR, UHD, HD signals. The HDRC-4000 is crucial to “SR Live” - the efficient HDR Live Production workflow developed by Sony. Equally, the powerful new XVS-8000 video mixer both works within the SDI infrastructure and is IP ready.

Amsterdam – 15 September 2017: Sony has reinforced its commitment to IP Live interoperability by announcing it will support two key industry standards: one regarding SMPTE ST 2110 media transport over IP, and a second regarding AMWA NMOS Device Discovery and Registration. The first compliant products, which form part of the complete Sony IP Live Production System, will be on show at IBC 2017 and available to customers from April 2018. The SMPTE ST 2110 standard is currently in final draft.

Sky chooses Sony to deliver innovation and quality in its new sports broadcast hub in Unterföhring

Sony equipment enables Sky to build 4K HDR studio of the future

Berlin, 15 September 2017 – It’s a project of superlatives, with several millions invested in building Sky Sports’ new Headquarters and broadcast hub, just next to the head office in Unterföhring. The 4600 square metre ground hosts two new studios, as well as an additional space for the Sky Bundesliga simulcast. The new broadcast complex is equipped with a broad range of advanced Sony 4K HDR ready technologies, demonstrating what a “studio of the future” looks like; seven HDC-4300 cameras, one HDC-P43 POV-camera, one XVS-7000 mixer and over 140 Sony OLED and LCD screens, ranging from BVM-X300 and LMD-A240 to PVM-A170, PVM-A250 and PVM-X550. Sky Sports Headquarters will broadcast the biggest sports events Starting this summer, all relevant Sky live sports content will be broadcast in the Sky Sports Headquarters, including the UEFA Champions League, EHF Handball Champions League, Golf, Tennis, Formula 1 and Sky Sport News. The site comprises Two studios (600 and 250 square metres), and an additional space for the Sky Bundesliga simulcast. The opening of the new Headquarters brings with it approximately 90 new jobs, as Sky works with Sony to continue to create unique viewer experiences.
