Sony BRAVIA professional displays at Gdynia Maritime University Sports and Recreation Centre

Weybridge, UK, Poland, Warsaw - 15th May: The Gdynia Maritime University Sports and Recreation Centre aims to improve the educational conditions for students and enable them to pursue their sporting passions by utilising Sony BRAVIA professional displays. The facility is also available to the region of Tricity residents, who are able to use the whole infrastructure.

At the heart of the SRC is a highly-functional and modern sports hall. The technological and architectural solutions used here make it possible to efficiently divide the space into three separate fields, where football, basketball or volleyball matches can be played simultaneously. There is also a climbing wall, separated with a special safety net.

Conference facilities

The centre offers two rooms with meeting space of approximately 70 m² and a VIP room of 194 m², which can be divided into 3 smaller rooms that can be freely combined in any configuration.

The VIP room is a multifunctional space. It is used for pre-match briefings with players, meetings with guests of the university and for commercial rental. The facility offers full multimedia equipment with modern audiovisual solutions including projectors and screens, as well as ceiling sound systems.

Multimedia equipment

This space is equipped with Sony Bravia BZ40H professional monitors. This choice was no accident. The outstanding image quality results from the combination of 4K resolution and Full Array LED backlighting, which means that the light intensity in the brightest parts of the image can be increased for maximum contrast and peak brightness of 850 cd/m². The powerful Sony 4K X1 processor ensures contrast and clarity, as well as compatibility with high dynamic range (HDR) video formats. Lower-resolution content has near 4K quality thanks to the use of 4K X-Reality PRO technology, which interpolates the image in real time. All this is complete with XBalanced speakers.

Sony is all about quality and reliability. Another benefit is the warranty with a swap option, which can be extended to 5 years. This gives customers a sense of security. As integrators, we also appreciate the ease of integrating the devices with the control system” - says Paweł Musiałowicz, commercial consultant, Eurotrend Systemy Audiowizualne.

Clever use of displays

The use of monitors is well thought out. One of the windowed walls of the VIP room is located adjacent to the sports hall. For TV production purposes, three PTZ cameras were installed there, with output transmitted to monitors. If there are no meetings taking place in the VIP room, the monitors are used as a digital signage system with footage of the life of the University.

The conference room is equipped with an 85” monitor serving as the main display and utilising wireless connectivity. It is used for video conferencing meetings in conjunction with the MTR kit. The whole is managed by a central control system.

The SRC gym is divided into four zones: free weights, machines, cardio and fitness. Guests can also take advantage of high-end equipment from MATRIX and TECHNOGYM. In this section, monitors are used for digital signage with strictly sports content designed to make the workout more enjoyable. Another option created for guests is the possibility of using wi-fi integrated into the monitors. Guests can choose the contents viewed using their own phone.

A key aspect while designing the Gdynia Maritime University Sports and Recreation Centre was the functionality of the building and the comfort of its use. This involves a number of elements. It is an example of a modern facility that helps its users look after their health with the latest technologies which make the time spent there more enjoyable.

“We are grateful that Gdynia Maritime University is utilising Sony Bravia in their bid to make a more comfortable and enjoyable environments for their students” comments Adam Dover, Senior Corporate & Trade Marketing Manager, Sony Europe. “Each element of these displays are optimised in a way to provide the ultimate viewing experience, and we are glad Eurotrend Systemy Audiowizualne has recognised this and opted to use the Bravia displays for this installation”.
