Atsugi, Japan — Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (SSS) today announced the launch of subscription services on its edge AI sensing platform AITRIOS™ in Europe, as part of AITRIOS’s global expansion. The services are designed to streamline the development and implementation of sensing solutions using edge devices such as AI cameras

The two fee-based subscription services that comprise AITRIOS are: (1) Console Developer Edition, which is designed mainly to support application and AI developers; and (2) Console Enterprise Edition, supports system integrators — groups who work on building visual AI solutions. AITRIOS provides partners and customers with the tools, SDKs (Software Development Kits) and development environment that can lower cost, reduce complexity, improve time-to-market and increase measurable ROI, all while providing advanced privacy controls. The services are now available in Europe, starting in 10 countries,¹ and there are plans to roll them out across the entire region.

Since SSS launched partial services at no cost in 2021 with the objective of recruiting partner companies using AITRIOS, over 20² demonstration experiments have been implemented around the world. Many partner companies reported that the service was effective for them to use in their work, showing that launching a subscription-based business model was feasible. This, in turn, resulted in the launch of Console Developer Edition and Console Enterprise Edition as subscription services on the AITRIOS platform.

Console Developer Edition is provided via SSS’s cloud infrastructure to various entities engaged in developing applications and AI models, such as startups and academic research institutions. Adopting the service will eliminate the need for developers to build the infrastructure themselves, making it easy for them to build an environment where they can easily set up edge devices, connect to the cloud, develop applications and AI models, and run solutions.

Console Enterprise Edition is mainly for system integrator companies working on building enterprise customer systems. From Microsoft Azure Marketplace, the service is installed on Microsoft Azure infrastructure owned by customers, and offers a variety of tools, development environment and functions, that can help resolve the range of issues faced by partner companies today, such as increasing labor time and a lack of engineers and skills. Furthermore, it can be easily connected to and integrated with customer’s existing systems on the same infrastructure. There is also no need for customers to export their own data outside their own infrastructure, which leads to its advantages in terms of system customization flexibility and security.

SSS plans to use full-scale operation of these services — while also planning to expand other new AITRIOS services to meet the needs of various partners — as an opportunity to accelerate the social implementation of sensing solutions in collaboration with partner companies.
