Véo Cinemas equips newest screens with Sony 4K projection
Cinema La Dolce Vita features three HDR-ready systems for best picture quality
France, 9th October: Sony Digital Cinema is pleased to announce that it has been chosen by Véo Cinemas, which operates a network of cinemas in eleven locations across central and southern France, to provide 4K projection systems for the French operator’s newest site in Andernos Les Bains near Bordeaux.
This is the first time that Véo Cinemas has specified Sony 4K and it will feature the Sony HDR-ready SRX-R515P projectors in all three screens on the new site.
The projectors are being provided by digital cinema specialist Mediatechniques, working in close co-operation with Sony and ADDE to install the systems ready for the opening of La Dolce Vita early in December 2019.
The new installation follows Mediatechniques’ successful delivery and commissioning of a Sony SRX-R515P at Cinéma LUX in Le Buisson de Cadouin.
“It’s been a pleasure working with Mediatechniques, ADDE and Sony at our beautiful new cinema in Andernos Les Bains” comments Jean-Pierre Villa, President of Véo Cine. “This marks the first step in what will be a successful long-term partnership with Sony on additional cinema projects.”
Enrico Ferrari, Regional Sales Head South and East Europe, Theatre Solutions at Sony Professional Solutions Europe, added: “We are delighted that Véo Cinemas has selected the benefits of true 4K projection at its newest site. The clarity, colour and contrast of Sony 4K makes every screening a thrilling experience for patrons – something that lower-resolution 2K projectors simply can’t match.”
Offering 15,000 lumen brightness and an impressive 8,000:1 contrast ratio, the SRX-R515P features a highly efficient, long-lasting High-Pressure Mercury (HPM) lamp array that reduces maintenance requirements compared with conventional Xenon projection lamps.
Suitable for medium-sized screens up to 12m, the DCI-compliant projector can also be easily adapted for smooth, easy-on-the-eye 3D presentation.
