Weybridge, UK – 26th August 2026 – Euro-TV has invested in the futureproofing of its broadcast capabilities and has upgraded its MPU-3 outside broadcast van with Sony’s MLS-X1 live production switcher. This move has enabled the Austrian live production company to enhance the flexibility and performance required for complex and rapidly evolving broadcasting and media production operations. The MLS-X1 live production switcher is scalable and reconfigurable and can be seamlessly integrated into existing broadcast infrastructures. Together with the new ICP-X7000 series control panels, the switcher and panels complement the existing HDC-3500 and -4300 series live camera trucks, thereby rounding off the Sony broadcast ecosystem at Euro-TV.

For rugged outdoor use

Euro-TV, based in St. Veit an der Gölsen, Austria, specialises in challenging and large-scale TV productions – primarily in alpine outdoor settings. These include winter sports and live events, such as the Ski World Cup races at Semmering and in Zauchensee, the Night Race in Schladming and the Four Hills Tournament in Innsbruck. In addition, there are events such as the Wings for Life World Run in Vienna, the Erzbergrodeo enduro motorbike race and, increasingly, live broadcasts of church services from churches across Austria.

The company operates three of its own mobile production units: MPU-1, -2 and -3. The MPU-3, the largest OB van in the Euro-TV fleet, has undergone a major modernisation and, as part of this, has been fitted with Sony’s MLS-X1 live production mixer. At the same time, the Sony ICP-X7000 series mixer control panel was also installed.

Ready for the future

Sony’s MLS-X1 live production mixer can also be remotely controlled via the network using the Virtual Shot Box (VSB). The buttons and functions on this flexible, web-based user interface are customisable in size and position, allowing numerous functions to be assigned and thus tailored to specific production requirements for fast and reliable operation. This expands the creative possibilities for live broadcasts, whilst new conditional actions enable more sophisticated control of production elements and ensure that Euro-TV can consistently deliver high-quality content.

For complex production tasks

As part of Sony’s growing Networked Live ecosystem, the MLS-X1 switcher not only brings together the various video, audio and control signals, but also enables the integration of external devices via southbound communication protocols for advanced network messaging functions. This improves the production process.

The switcher offers advanced features that allow production teams to carry out complex production tasks easily and efficiently. These include, for example, the internal HDR I/O converter. When used in an OB van, the converter can ensure, for instance, that the video director assesses the HDR signal on a reference monitor, whilst an SDR feed is simultaneously available for older broadcast channels or parallel distribution.
