NFL and Sony Demonstrate 5G Live Photo Upload at NFL Game in Berlin using Sony’s PDT-FP1 Data Transmitter
Capturing the moment and making it available immediately. Using Sony's PDT-FP1 portable data transmitter, photographers can reliably and quickly feed their images into the NFL's editorial system via 5G.
Berlin, 14th November 2025 – Sony provided a state-of-the-art 5G connected camera solution to selected photographers covering the 2025 National Football League (NFL) Berlin Game. When the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons met on 9 November 2025 in front of over 70000 fans in Berlin's Olympic Stadium, these official photographers were equipped with Sony’s PDT-FP1 portable data transmitter. This allowed them to capture reactions and emotions up close and in real time from the Olympic stadium and the NFL fan zones and upload these professional high-resolution images using the connected camera’s 5G capabilities into NFL's editorial systems in real time.
Sony’s PDT-FP1 portable data transmitter
Used In live situations like this high-profile NFL match, the PDT-FP1 allows a straight-forward transmission directly from a camera to a cloud or server destination, so publishers can quickly select and publish on their channels images taken from the ground.
The photographer team that captured the atmosphere in the fan zones and in the stadium for the NFL used the Sony PDT-FP1 portable data transmitter, designed specifically for professional photo and video production. It enables fast and stable transmission of image and video files directly using 5G networks. PDT-FP1 with its dual SIM functionality, a large touchscreen, active cooling and versatile connectivity options, ensures smooth workflows, reliable performance and high flexibility – ideal for broadcaster, professional photographer and videographer in any kind of event environment.
The Sony PDT-FP1 supports dual SIMs with a physical SIM and an eSIM, allowing easy switching. It automatically selects the stronger network based on signal conditions and switches SIMs for data transfer. The antenna design is optimised to maximise reception sensitivity, enabling high-speed, low latency communication over 5G networks. By simply connecting this device to a Sony camera via cable, photos and videos can be imported into this device and that data can be automatically transferred to a specified FTP server or the cloud service provided by Sony after an initial setup.
