Sony BRAVIA Professional Displays enhance Postgraduate programmes at the University of Bedfordshire

Weybridge, July 24th, 2025 – The University of Bedfordshire has recently upgraded its postgraduate facilities with a suite of Sony BRAVIA Professional Displays, in a move to enrich the learning experience for its international student cohort. The project, delivered in collaboration with long-term AV integrator Pacific, included the deployment of 16 Sony BRAVIA 98-inch displays and 12 55-inch repeater screens across 15 classrooms within the university’s flagship Postgraduate Centre.

As a hub for international students but accessible to all, the Postgraduate Centre is a key investment in the university’s commitment to providing world-class teaching environments. For the University of Bedfordshire, display quality, reliability, aftercare and brand reputation were the deciding factors.

“For our students in the Post Graduate building, we wanted to go beyond functional tech and offer an environment that reflected the value of their studies,” said Don Joseph, AV and Infrastructure Lead at the University of Bedfordshire. “Sony offered not only superior display performance but also the support and warranty assurances that gave us peace of mind across our multiple campuses.”

Pacific, the integrator behind the installation, worked closely with the university to ensure the deployment met both technical and pedagogical needs. The 98” BRAVIA displays from the BZ30L range provided crystal-clear visibility even in larger rooms, while the 55” repeaters ensured all students had an unobstructed view, regardless of seating position. One lecture theatre was equipped with dual 98-inch displays to guarantee full visibility with optimal performance in premium spaces.

“This was a high-profile deployment with a focus on performance, aesthetics and aftercare support,” said Scott Belbin, Strategic Account Manager at Pacific. “We recommended Sony BRAVIA Professional displays because of their proven reliability in higher education and sleek, professional finish.”

Crucially, Sony’s five-year on-site warranty played a significant role in the university’s decision. With limited technical staff spread across five campuses, the ability to rely on Sony’s prompt service and replacement policy through Pacific was paramount.

In line with its sustainability goals, the university also valued the low power consumption and energy efficiency of the BRAVIA Professional range. These displays incorporate advanced energy-saving features and are partially made with SORPLAS™, Sony’s proprietary recycled plastic, contributing to reduced environmental impact without compromising on durability or image quality.

“We’re proud to support institutions like the University of Bedfordshire with our robust and energy-efficient display solutions,” said Karl Ingham, Key Account Manager, Sony Europe. “It’s a great example of how the right AV investment can elevate the educational experience for students from around the world.”

Lecturers and students have responded positively to the new environment, highlighting the brightness, contrast, and responsiveness of the screens. The move away from projection units has also improved room aesthetics and reduced maintenance demands.

This installation has set a benchmark for AV installations across the University of Bedfordshire’s campuses. Following the success of the Postgraduate Centre, additional buildings such as the G, H and J Blocks have also been fitted with Sony BRAVIA Professional Displays, establishing a new technological standard for the university’s learning environments.
