Sony Joins the Critics' Week as a Partner
Sony is delighted to announce its partnership with Critics' Week at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, through its involvement in the Discovery Prize for Short Films
On 20 May 2026, the jury will award the best short film a prize of €4,000. With this award, Sony is underlining its commitment to the younger generation of filmmakers and supporting the emergence of new talent.
By supporting short films, a privileged space for experimentation and creativity, Sony aims to foster the development of unique voices and encourage cinematic innovation. At a time when content consumption is evolving and audiences can connect to new cultures, perspectives and stories, Sony is excited to celebrate the creators and visual storytellers who shape the way we discover the world. For decades, the brand has supported the creative community with tools designed by cinematographers, for cinematographers, at the intersection of the major film and digital imaging industries.
‘Supporting Critics' Week and its Discovery Prize is a natural part of our commitment to encouraging young talent and unleashing the power of stories told through images,’ says Florence Quintin, Cine & Video Marketing Lead, Sony Europe.
At Cannes, Sony is reaffirming its ambition to put technology at the service of creativity and support the future generation of global cinema.
