Weybridge, UK, July 22, 2025 — Sony today announced the launch of the PXW-Z300, a flagship handheld XDCAM® camcorder featuring 1/2-inch 4K 3-CMOS Exmor R® sensors, the latest BIONZ XR™ image processing engine, and a dedicated AI-processing unit. This model comes equipped with a professional lens system that includes three independent manual control rings. Ideal for a wide range of applications including news, sports, corporate, events, documentary, live programming, and reality programmes, the new camcorder is planned to be available in fall 2025.

During the Ski World Championship, Sony and Telia collaborated to test brand new mobile technology that delivers extreme performance. The millimeter band was connected to Telia's 5G network at the stadium in Granåsen to provide fast connectivity to some of Sony's cameras. The result was performance never seen before.

Weybridge, April 2nd, 2025 - In addition to providing a dedicated slice of the 5G network to NRK's photographers during the Ski World Championship, Telia also tested another feature of 5G during the championship, namely the millimeter band (mmWave). This is a separate radio network that uses a higher frequency (26 GHz) and shorter wavelengths. This was connected to Telia's 5G network at the stadium in Granåsen to provide fast connectivity to certain photographers using Sony's equipment during the world championship. The results were impressive:

Sony delivers highly anticipated firmware updates including C2PA compliancy and ensuring authenticity of images

28th March, 2024 –Sony delivers firmware updates for the Alpha 1 (Ver. 2.00), Alpha 7S III (Ver. 3.00), Alpha 7 IV (Ver. 3.00) all available today, and after April 2024, the Alpha 9 III (Ver.2.00). The update contains some of Sony’s most impactful technology, including Camera Authenticity Solution, the proprietary in-camera digital signature and C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) format support[i]. Together, these tools will make it possible for news agencies to ensure the authenticity of images, contributing to industry efforts to protect creators, and society from fake imagery.
